It’s In There, Really!
“You are amazing. Doing the TOD every day. I don't know how you do it. I am in awe…Now that I’ve done a couple I have a better appreciation for how much it takes. Really amazed you can do it every day!! Funny thing - both that I've done started out as a different TOD than ended up with. Funny how that works…” – Excerpts from emails with Sue yesterday.
I had no idea on October 30, 2008 that two positive quotes being sent out to a few friends would morph into a group of 88 people and 306 pages of words on every possible subject under the sun; however, I did know one thing on that day. I knew that I needed to send out that first email. I just felt it.
Reread the words in the quote today. Sue did not even know she did it when she was typing, but she was describing the beginnings of a change in thinking: “Funny thing - both that I've done started out as a different TOD than ended up with.” That’s how it begins. You see subtle shifts in your thinking and views on life. As I say often, pay attention to the small things rather than looking for the WOW moments. Small things happen all the time. When you concentrate on paying attention to them, you awareness to the world around you begins to increase. Before you know it, you see change and good things in every single thing around you. Even if I have a disagreement with someone, I still see, learn, or find something good in it.
I see and sense so much more these days than I used to. I’ve found that the more I work at it, the better I get at it. I do it through reading, meditation, meeting new people, and just listening to what’s going on in the world around me.
There are TODs in every single person just like I believe there are books in every one of us. Each life is unique and has its own story. That is another reason I solicit for guest TODs. There is so much inside each of us to share. When you start writing, whether a journal or TOD, your brain just starts working a little differently. I’m fortunate that I get to see the comments on the TODs of how something in a particular one spoke to someone or got someone to think a little different.
There are 88 people in the group right now, which means there are 87 stories, books and TODs at a minimum. Put the fingers to the keyboard or pen to paper and just watch what comes out. Better yet, pay attention to what you are feeling as you do it. There are no right or wrong feelings, but I am certain you will feel something. It’s just taking that first step to do it. It’s in there, really!

Shiny Stuff
The transformation has begun. I took my $500 gift card to Stubb’s yesterday and snagged some new shiny things for the new scooter. More shiny is more gooder. And the best of all, new exhaust so it sounds likes a Harley now rather than a sewing machine.
