Thought for Today - 11/30/09

Tables & Chairs

“Your purpose may not always be obvious, but always remember that you do have a purpose.” – Rodney Williams.

The first thing I notice when I pull up to Starbucks in the morning are the tables and chairs out front along with those out front of the Velvet Lounge. Without fail, there is something different about them each day. Sometimes the chairs are pushed under. Sometimes there are no chairs at one table and all at the others, and then this morning, the chairs were turned upside down. Over at the Velvet, I sometimes see a table full of ½ empty drinks, plates and chips from Los Cucos and sometimes six more chairs taken from Los Cucos and over in front of Velvet.

So why does outdoor furniture in front of a coffee shop and bar intrigue me? I wonder what was going on with the group of people. I wonder what they talked about. I wonder what they laughed about. I wonder what they may have cried about. But the thing that sticks out to me is that people were together and sharing. They were sharing stories, life, etc. Isn’t that what it’s all about? Sharing your life with someone else? As I say often, we are all connected and share in this event called life. Cherish your connections. Remember, we all have a place and purpose in each other’s lives.
