December 21st – Not Asking For Much – Just One

"Let us be grateful to people who make us happy; they are the charming gardeners who make our souls blossom." - Marcel Proust

I read an article about the holidays and how a lot of people just “cope” with them. I know personally that the holidays bring up a lot of memories about my Mom as they were a big thing for her. I would think there are many others that have similar memories pop up during the holidays. How we react and work with the memories is just as unique as each and every one of us.

The article had a suggestion on one simple thing to do to shift from just coping: Inspire. Do one simple thing to inspire others. The ability exists in all of us but seems to get held down for a number of reasons which are typically self-generated. What you think that may not make a difference could totally change someone’s day and even their life maybe. Do something out of the ordinary. If you are normally the quiet one at the gatherings, take a few minutes to say how you really feel, give a heart-felt toast, recognize the one in the crowd that always hides in the background (that used to be me) hoping they will not be noticed. Call, better yet go see someone you are estranged with and watch how both of you will change. Something that would mean a lot to you would typically mean a lot to someone else. As different as we really are, we are all the same in a lot of ways. Be the change that someone needs today. Go forth and INSPIRE.
