December 19th – A Compliment

“People are wired differently. Some people, if you cut them open, the wiring system would look like a stick figure man--one main line with off-shooting lines for the limbs. Other people (like you),if you cut them open, there'd be a whole mess of wires, bundles of them, some of them all tangled up, some not even attached to anything. I bet you even have some copper wiring. You're a complicated man. P.S. This is a good thing. :) P.S.S. And I identify with it.“ – Linda L.

Some would consider being called complicated as an insult, but I don’t. Today’s quote is one of the nicer compliments I’ve received. Linda sent it to me yesterday in response to my Treasure write up. I am in 100% agreement with Linda on me being complicated. And being that I work with cabling, networks, and all sorts of technology, her analogy makes perfect sense to me. I can relate.

I am indeed wired a little differently. There is a lot to me, many sides, and many facets. For so many years, I did not see all the complication in me, but once I opened my eyes, physical and spiritual, learned to sense, and learned how to feel, it all became so obvious.

Now here is where the irony really comes into play. I met Linda through my good buddy Clay at a cook-off in Taylor Texas. That is the only time we have ever seen each other in person. The balance of our contact has been through my writings and email. So how can someone that has only been around me one time and reads what I write say that I am complicated? Because I am open with my “complicatedness.” I put myself and my life out there on display for all to see. I share my ups and downs, my insecurities, my wonderful times, my challenges with just being a boy, my special times, and most everything about me. I knowingly do this for two reasons: it’s therapy for me, and I hope my words help people find their own complicatedness.

I believe we all start out as stick figure men/women and grow into our complicatedness. When we finally learn how much we have on the inside and how much we can give to the world through our own unique gifts, we really learn to live and connect with the universe. I still laugh about how Sally described me one time to a mutual friend when she asked how I was doing: “Rodney is in enlightened phase.” The more I learn about my complicatedness, the more I want to know. Start looking for your complicatedness. It’s there inside you.
