Just a Reflection of the Inside
I’m called the Happy Guy by one business associate. Some call me Mr. Positivity. I like those titles as they truly convey who I am today. My words, attitude and energy are a reflection of who I am on the inside. It is more than just a choice to think happy and positive thoughts and be able to speak them. It is a wholesale change all the way down to the spirit level. Sure I have off days where I am cranky and bitchy, but I know those are not my normal state and will pass. I know that I will get back to being the Happy Guy. How? That’s just who I am now.
The reality is that we speak about what we feel, concentrate on, and what is located inside. We all know people that talk about their past way too much. They are still bitter because their husband or wife left them 10 years ago. We all know people that talk about their health issues way too much. There are those that talk about how they are always financially strapped. In all cases, they are speaking about what is on the inside. They are concentrating on and living those events over and over. They are reflecting, with their words, what they are feeling on the inside.
Take a minute to think about “the people” I described above that are in your life right now. Next think about how you feel when you talk with them, read emails from them, or are around them. You absorb their words and energy and begin to feel it. You know what I mean. It goes something like this: “Bob called and asked to me to meet him for a beer…I guess he is gonna pine away about Donna again…” You get to a point where you want to avoid them as you know it will just be another pity party.
Everyone needs a sounding board every now and then, and you should step up to help those in need; however, if their normal state is to be the host of the pity party, you need to rethink being around them. If they are down and bring you down, now you have doubled the amount of negative energy in the world. If your spirit is feeling uncomfortable around certain people, listen to it. It is trying to protect you.
Your words are just a reflection of the inside. Take some time to reflect and determine what you normally talk about with others. Are you dwelling on the one that did you wrong in the past? Are you dwelling on your financial issues, or are you dwelling on how blessed you are to have a job, a family, or people in your life that love you no matter what? If you don’t like what you see and say, change it so your reflection of the inside is bright and shiny on the outside. Become Mr. or Ms. Happy…Positivity. Be that change in the world that you want to see.
