Repeats

I’ve noticed something about what I write. I’ve seen the same thing in the daily emails I get from my positivity web sites, Joel’s books and his sermons, John Maxwell’s books, and almost any person that writes a lot of self improvement and growth. They have common and repeatable themes. They speak of hope, shifting your thinking, change, patience, faith, and believing for better things.

I do the same thing. I see repeatable themes in what I write. I may word things differently but a lot of the themes or messages are repeats. My most common themes are love, change, communication, positive energy, the importance of the people in my life, and gratitude. In this document to date, there are 54 appearances of “thank you”, 47 appearances of “smiles”, 34 appearances of love, and 103 appearances of “change”.

There are some days where I am more in tune with my words than other days. Oddly enough, those are some of the days where someone writes back and says you wrote this one just for me...I needed these exact words today. There are other days where I am so passionate about the words that it physically and emotionally drains me when I write it. There are yet other days where I am indeed writing about and to a specific person. I never really know until my fingers hit the keys to bring the words out of my heart. That again tells me the “the topics” are indeed a part of me.

I’m ok with repeats on the topics mentioned earlier. That just means they are a living part of me not just discussion points. I actually had a friend from work tell me that when she watches Joel on the television, it’s like talking to me. I took that as a huge compliment. Rhonda Byrne, author of The Secret, sums it up pretty nicely.

“Say "Thank you" at every turn. Walk, talk, think, and breathe appreciation and gratitude. When you do this, your outer life will change to reflect your inner state of being.”

I will repeat myself all day and night as long as something I say or write is helping or making a difference in someone’s life. Sometimes that someone is me and sometimes it’s you. Take a moment to think about all of the good things in your life. Repeat them in your head over and over. Let “…your outer life reflect your inner state of being…”
