Question of the Day

Just What Is It?

Stacey and I had a very interesting conversation yesterday: “Rod, just what is normal…your normal and my normal could be totally different…just what is the definition of normal?” I have to admit that I was stumped for a little bit. Sure there are definitions of normal when it comes to blood pressure levels, oil temperature in an engine, or acceptable behavior in public, but what is my normal or what is your normal?

Some say I do too many miles at the park or on the bike. I’ve been told I put too much pressure on myself sometimes or that I try too hard. I’ve been told that some of my thinking is way outside the norm. The answer to all of those questions is sometimes yes and sometimes no, but it is what works for me. I like being out there a little bit. I like pushing myself a little too hard sometimes. I like doing things for people and giving gifts. I like changing lives with my words and actions. I like making people wonder about me. I can honestly say that I still can’t really define what my normal is other than the things in life that work for me.

So just what is your normal? I’d really like to know.
