What's Your Color?

Flexibly Opportunistic

Today’s title is a phrase I use quite a bit. If you dissect the root words for a second, you will see why. Being flexible means having the ability to shift and adapt. Opportunity is just a chance. To me, flexibly opportunistic means being pliable enough to be able to shift and adapt to the chances and possibilities presented in life. It is the complete opposite of being rigid aka a hard ass.

There are indeed times we need to be a hard ass and stand our ground, and there are times we need to open our mind up enough to at least listen to the possibilities then make an informed decision. I have many discussions regarding the “it’s black or white” stance. I used to be one of those thinkers until I learned it is not always black or white. There is more gray area in life than anything else. And within that gray, there are varying shades, which lead to endless opportunities. Things change. That’s just life. How we choose to work with the change is up to us. We get to decide what is black, what is white, and what is gray. Become flexibly opportunistic and learn to live in the gray. It’s a nice place.
