I was talking with Lynn at Starbucks this morning, and subject of the weather came up. I had just checked it in my truck; my navigation system has real time weather, and knew it was supposed to rain today. She got a little bit of a sad look on her face. I smiled and said: “regardless of the weather, I will still have a great day.” That put a smile on her face, and started me thinking about how much we allow external influences to shape our day. Think about it for a minute. You wake up and read an email or text that sets you off or puts you in a good mood. You see something on the television that does the same. You hear it may rain, and you get the sad face. Any of these things or events has the potential to set the tone for your day. Notice I said has the potential.
Regardless of the thing or event, it is ultimately our decision on how we allow said thing or event to impact and shape our day. Choose to shape your day rather than letting your day shape you. It starts with changing your thinking. Remember, when you change your thinking you can change your world and the world of those around you. Make that change you want to see in the world.
