Think & Know

Dang, I like this learning something new deal.  I ran across another new term today, Fear Blocks.  Well, it is new for me anyway.  Fear blocks are exactly what they sound like.  They are internal fears that block us from succeeding.  These fears can be based on past experiences, peer pressure, ego, or pretty much anything.

In one book I am reading, there is an exercise for working with and through fear blocks.  Step one is called The Fear and consists of identifying and documenting the respective fear.  Step two is called The Truth and is the process of documenting the facts about the fear to determine the source and validity.  I do a similar exercise called Think and Know.  I write what I am thinking and feeling then write what I know about the thoughts and feelings to see if they are supported or unsupported and validated by fact.  In the majority of the cases, the Think part is unsupported by the Know part.  It is all about going through the process of identification and validation.  When you can determine the source, normally ego and insecurity, you can develop a plan to work the process.
