Try to Spin This One

I Know What I Said

The talking heads on the idiot box are beyond comical. They interview someone then try to spin the person’s words to get a rise out of them. You know the classics, “well what you really mean is…what he, /she is trying to say is…” I know what I said people. I do not need anyone to interpret my own words. They are 100% mine, and I decide how to use them.

For some reason, interviewers consider themselves great if they can spin someone’s words to get a rise out of them. Personally, I think it just shows how inept the interviewer is that they have to resort to the spin game. If they would keep their mouth shut for a bit and listen, they would be very surprised how much more information they will get. It is just common courtesy and respect.

Spinning words is one of the bigger boundary breakers in my opinion. When someone tries to drop you in the spin cycle, stop him or her hard in their tracks with a boundary. The very one I use sometimes is today’s title. I Know What I Said. Like the title of Yvonne Oswald’s book says, Every Word Has Power. Keep the power in your words.
