Ready...Fire...Aim...Oh Wait

That’s Different

I view a good conversation as one that triggers a different path of thinking.  I like saying or hearing from someone, “I’ve never looked at or thought of it that way.”  I’m not suggesting that every conversation has to have some deep story or profound thought, but it should stir your interest and thinking.  In fact, some of my most intellectually stimulating conversations come from the banter at the coffee shop.  The most recent being a conversation with Patrick regarding a person writing in to a local paper complaining her boyfriend would not call her his girlfriend.  Oh wait, did I mention they had only been going out TWO WEEKS?  That triggered two conversations.  The first one was on labels and their importance to some people.  The second was about the speed some people tend to move at in relationships.

Good conversation is like a session of intellectual improvisation.  Get creative, improv your butts off, and think.  It’s good for your melon!
