Change It
I find it somewhat comical at people who call into radio stations just spinning out of control about a bit or a certain subject. I can visualize the bulging veins on the side of their head about to explode. They like to say they are passionate about whatever the bit is, but I cannot for the life of me understand why someone allows themselves to get worked up in such a frenzy that they lose it. Typically, before they slam the phone down, you hear them say, “I’m never listening again then you hear them on the phone again a few days later.” Being passionate about whatever is totally unhealthy when it spins you out of control. That’s self-induced stress at the highest level. Why in the blue hell would anyone want to feel those feelings? I just don’t get it. It’s a bit folks, and there are other channels on the radio. Push the dang button. I listen to Opie & Anthony and Howard Stern on satellite. There are days I can listen for hours then other days when I change the channel as the topic is not of interest or I feel they are rambling too long on a bit. I push the button and change the channel.
Our days can sometimes be like listening to the radio. A topic or situation comes up with potential to drop us off in the out of control spin cycle. Just like listening to the radio, we can choose to enter the spin cycle or change the channel. If you know, someone or a situation is going to bring up less than favorable feelings, change the channel by walking away or refusing to be sucked in. Changing the channel is just another metaphor for boundaries. Use um and watch how quickly your life changes.
