The Real One
Who Are You…Who…Who…Who Who? Do you remember those lyrics from The Who? They have a little different meaning to me. That is the funny thing about the messages in music. For me, they pose the question of who are you at your core. Are you a different person at work, in social settings, or at home? I know a great many people out there, which are totally different people in the job setting than they are at home. They take on a different persona relative to the situation. This one still gets back to the question I’ve posed before of who you are versus what you do. When we allow a job or situation to define who we are, it can leave us conflicted and confused.
Being flexible and adaptable are admirable traits as long as we do not allow them to manipulate us into being something different than who we are at our core. Attempting to be all things to all people and losing site of self leaves us nothing but whipped and tired. There was a time where I tried to be all things to all people as I really did not know me at my core. Yep, I was a pleaser at one time until I learned the proper use of boundaries. I occasionally catch myself dropping back to pleaser status, but I know what the pleaser looks like and know what to do when he appears.
So! I pose the question again, “Who Are You…Who…Who…Who Who?"
