Asking or receiving help is a real bear for some people. Past events have conditioned them to think or believe asking or receiving help is a sign of weakness or help. In my opinion, it is quite the contrary. Learning to ask for help means, you understand your limitations and skills. Learning to receive help means, you understand that receiving it actually a gift of a blessing from someone. I know I turn down help more than I should as somewhere in my silly head I feel I am being an inconvenience. I caught myself the other day almost saying no when someone offered to help me with something. I saw the look in their eye and knew it was genuine and important to them so I said okay.
We are not 100% all knowing and self-supporting; therefore, we sometimes need to ask for help. Receiving help is important for the very same reason. We are not 100% all knowing and self-supporting. That’s not how we’re made. We’re made to need others. We’re made to care for others. Learn to give it and take it, and watch how the world around you changes.
