Leave it at the Door

Baggage does not discriminate.  It knows no race, financial status, religious preference, or social standing.  Anyone that says they do not have any baggage is telling a VERY LARGE TALE!  I don’t care how much therapy and counseling you get, how enlightened you are, or what level of ascension you think you have mastered.  If you are breathing, you have it.  Now that we have that defined, let’s move on.  Having baggage is okay as long as you know how to work with it and keep it at manageable levels.  Meaning, you should not be carrying around a steamer trunk for of baggage.  It should be something more along the size of backpack or carry on type bag.

Yesterday, August 28th, was an interesting day for me as it marked five years since the big shift in my life happened.  It was not an emotional day or day of deep reflection but was a day to remember what I had on my back then and what I carry now.  I’ve gone from the steamer trunk to the backpack by learning to work with and through my baggage.  I learned to determine, well most of the time anyway, what I can and cannot change, ask if something is “this” good or not good for me, and learned how to put “it” in its place.

If you feel emotionally run down, take a look at what you are carry around with you.  Do you have a bag full of drama, conflict, or guilt?  Are you holding on to things in the past that cannot be changed, or are you owning things that are not yours and disregarding your boundaries?  Take some time and figure out what you can leave at the door.
