Your Hood

Local Support

I get my hair cut at the local real barbershop called Raymond’s.  My watering holes are owned by locals.  My car wash guy is a small businessman working hard to grow his business and support his family.  When I go out for breakfast, I go to locally owned businesses rather than the giant chain eateries.

With the holidays coming up, maybe we should all consider doing something different than buying a cart full of items made in China, Mexico, or anywhere other than here, and do something to support our local businesses.  Consider gift certificates from your local merchants.  Besides supporting the local merchants, it also shows a little thought and planning went into gift giving.  Who wouldn’t want their next three oil changes covered, or maybe a detail on the car, or a gift certificate for getting your dry cleaning done for a month?  There are tons of options out there.  Rather than complain about the superstores moving into the neighborhood, doing something about it, support your local businesses.  Go local.  It makes a difference.
