Would You Write My Story?

I’ve written about Chris in the past.  I met him a few years ago as I was walking in Reliant Center for a rodeo meeting.  He is the young man that works at the door greeting people.  He is in a wheel chair but does not let that stop him from smiling and saying hi to everyone.  He has not said anything specific, but my thinking is he has not always been in the chair but some event put him there.  When I walked around the corner Wednesday night, he was just a beaming.  As we chatted, he looked up and asked, “I think I wanna tell my story, I’d like you to write about me if you would?”  I responded, “Chris, you know from reading my book that we all have a story that someone needs to hear…heck, your story could end up being a book too.”

Here’s the deal.  Where I first met Chris, I said hi and walked on past him going to my meeting.  A few steps later, something inside stopped me and told me to go back, and I did.  Chris and I talked for a long time that night.  In fact, I was late for my rodeo meeting, but I was fine with that as talking to Chris was more important.  Since then, we have had many in depth conversations on most every topic you can imagine.  Each time I see him, I am reminded of how we all have a story that someone out there needs to hear.  Just like he has heard mine, someone out there needs to hear his, and I will do everything I can to ensure that happens.  It comes back to the simple concept, “We are all connected and in some way are here to help each other.”  Just like Chris, you have a story that someone needs to hear.  Share your life, your story, and watch how you can change the world.
