Day One

Start At The Beginning

Since today is traditionally the start of new beginnings, I propose we all do something completely different and totally out of our traditional comfort zone.  Pick something completely new to you.  The nice thing about new beginnings is getting to define “new.”

For example, I taught a friend of mine to shoot a pistol last year.  She had never even touched a gun in her entire life.  Some few months later, she bought her own pistol, goes to the range regularly, and has her concealed handgun license now.  When I wrote my book, I never had a clue I would write a book much less publish one.  I preferred waiting for the movie to come out rather than read a book.

All too often, we get caught stuck in what we like to call the comfort zone.  We go to the same places, see the same people, and do the same things on the same schedule each day.  Here is your challenge for today.  Think of something you have never done but wanted to.  Next, put a schedule to it.  The only way to have new experiences or learn new things is to start at the beginning.  What better time to start something new than the first day of the New Year?
