From or To
Where do you focus your energy,
moving to something or someone you’re drawn to or running from something or
someone? That is not necessarily a
profound statement but does merit some thought.
Think about the times where you wanted and needed to move on from
someone and were being drawn in a new direction, but you still put more energy
and effort into the From rather than To.
We concentrate more on what we are attempting to get out of our life
rather than focusing and what is being presented to us.
The most common examples are
breakups in relationships. We know
things are over, but we still do the texting and calling to make sure they are
okay, tell them we miss them, ask about having a drink or dinner as “friends.” Any counselor or relationship expert will
tell you cannot be casual friends with someone you were involved with just a
few weeks or even months after breaking up.
There is still too much raw emotion involved in the situation. We have all done folks. We convince ourselves we can go out as
friends, and then we see them, here come all the emotions again. Moving on is a bitch. Whether it is a relationship, friendship, or
a job, it’s just tough, but it is a necessary part of the grand scheme.
If something or someone feels
uncomfortable or wrong, listen. If
something or someone feels comfortable or right, listen. Overall, just learn to listen to what your
spirit is telling you. Strive to work on
where you are going To rather than
where you are coming From.
