In some languages, it is called a
full stop and in others, it is called
a period but they both mean the same
thing when it comes to punctuation. It
means the end of a sentence.
Conversationally, it means, “the end of the matter.”
A comma has many uses, but it is most commonly used to separate items
in a series within a sentence. Another
way to think of a comma is that it signifies more to come. Often times, we encounter things in life
where someone or an event attempts to put a period
or full stop when in actuality
it’s a comma situation.
Grief often appears as a period moment. We lose a loved one, go through a breakup or
divorce, or experience some other life-altering situation, but what happens
when you work through the grief, you move forward. A period
is a necessary part of life. There are
things we need to end, but the end to one sentence just means a new sentence is
on the way. Commas are also necessary, as there are often many items in a
series before we reach the period on
that sentence in life. Periods and commas can happily coexist in the
punctuation of life.
