Shall We Play A Game?

Let’s step back to 1983 and a little movie called WarGames.  Who remembers that one?  It’s a movie about a computer whiz teen that hacks into the North American Air Defense (NORAD) computers and begins playing what he thinks is a list of games. The list includes such nice game titles like Theater wide Biotoxic and Chemical Warfare and Global Thermonuclear War.  He selects the second one.  As the movie progresses, he finds that Joshua, the computer, is actually running the real response to what is a perceived real attack.  The missiles go hot and are about to launch.  As the computer runs the scenario of Global Thermonuclear War, Joshua learns, becomes aware, and determines there are no winners in the game.  He then asks the teen, “Shall we play a game?”  Joshua is referring to a nice and easy game of tic tac toe.

In life, there are games just like Global Thermonuclear War where there are no winners.  Rather than get involved in games of total destruction, walk away and look for a simple game of tic tac toe.
