So if I work out two times a day, that means I will lose
weight and get in shape twice as fast. Actually,
doing two a day workouts when you are not used to doing workout at that level,
can do more harm than good. I’m not
saying it is not good for you body, but most studies show a high degree of
burnout for people attempting to do more, quicker.
I recall back in the 80s when I first started training in
Karate, my instructor at the time told me most students wash out at about one
year and only one in 300 actually make it to black belt. Over my 27+ years in martial arts, I’ve seen
that very thing happen over and over, and most every time it came down to
people not having the patience to do the work.
People attempt to push relationships too fast, fast track
their way through jobs, or work out too much like mentioned earlier. It gets back to the “P” word I use often, patience. We need to make small and calculated
investments in whatever it is we are pursuing rather than trying to bite off
the whole “magilla” at once. More is
better when it comes to time with the ones we love, or hugs, or smiles, or
kisses; however, for most everything else, you gotta have patience and you have
to do the work.
