Who remembers this little piece from the Beatles: “And in
the end, the love that you take…is equal to the love you make…” Other phrases are, “get what you give” and
“ying and yang.” I just call it balance.
In life, balance is of critical importance. If one gives more than the other does in a
relationship, at some point it will come to a head in the way of an argument or
it will end. If one is a workaholic,
relationships, and your health will suffer and sooner than later, here comes
job burnout. The thing that still makes
me scratch my head is the fact that we have all the internal mechanisms to warn
us when we are out of balance. If we
work or play too much, our bodies let us know by way of fatigue. When relationships are one-sided, we sense it
yet we will put it aside, make excuse or disregard the issues rather than have
a little dialog with their partner.
Making excuses or disregarding things can lead to frustration,
resentment, and a total disconnect from the other person.
Some consider balance elusive but it isn’t. It is a matter of choice. You have to make time and take time to find
it. When you do, you will know it, “And
in the end, the love that you take…is equal to the love you make…”
