I found myself a little put
out when I turned on the water, and nothing came out of the faucet. I felt the frustration coming up then
remembered a water main across the street had been leaking for a few days. I popped outside and sure enough, the crew
was doing the repair. I almost allowed a
minor inconvenience work me up into a tither for no good reason.
There are opportunities for a
little inconvenience in each day. A
train delays your travel, someone does not answer the telephone when you call,
or there is a line at the grocery store.
They are annoyances but are ever so minor in the grand scheme of life. In
fact, the three examples above happened to me. A train delays me, but I am
still fortunate to have a truck. Someone
does not answer a call, but I at least have a cell phone that I can use to try
the call later. There is a line at the
grocery store but at least I have money to buy food. Yes, I find myself getting
bitchy at minor annoyances, but I know enough now to relate them to the big
picture and see they are nothing more than a little inconvenience. Even a little inconvenience can be a gentle
reminder about perspective and being thankful for the things in life.
