We all do things that we
would rather skip, as we consider them boring or not our thing. Some things might very well be boring or not
our thing, but how we perceive and approach them makes all the difference in
the world. We can steadily complain and
cause friction about going to the antique show, or we can look at it as a
chance to spend time with our girl and maybe, just maybe, learn a little
something about antiques or history.
Personally, I am not a late
night bar guy that goes to the poser, shiny shirt bars, but I will on occasion
just to be with my people. If nothing
else, I get to laugh at all the $30,000 millionaires “wanna be’s” that think
they are someone. Conversely, people
sometimes go with me to seedy dive bars, as I like those are places. I’ve had girls go to gun shows with me
knowing all the time knowing that is not their deal then have them say that was
some of the best people watching ever.
Taking one for the team can
be fun and a learning exercise if we approach it with the right mind set. Bitch and complain about how the event with
stink and the event will stink. Look at
it as time with people you like and an opportunity to learn/experience
something new and all of a sudden, you have something fun and new to do. It comes down to the “P” word again,
Perception.
Here is your challenge for
the weekend. Do something you would not
normally do and report back to me. I’ll
write something about the best story I get.
Heck, I may write about all of them.
Ya never know.
