Mental Minefield

Do you feel like sometimes no matter where you step mentally, you hit another mine?  I know I do.  At times, there is so much crap in my head that no matter what I do, boom goes the dynamite. It has many names: chatter, noise, static, stress, drama, and nonsense to name just a few. No matter what you call it, the end result is typically the same; watch your step or boom.  Avoiding the mines is all about timing and patience.  When you feel the ramp up of chatter happening, that’s a red flag to slow your role and watch your step.  Get quiet and shift your focus to something calming. It’s not always that easy to shift, but the alternative of barreling ahead like a bull always has a less than favorable outcome.

Mental minefields are a part of life.  There is no “if” and all sorts of “when” you will come upon one.  The key is learning how to navigate them with minimal damage.
