Intellectual Expansion

Even though I have cruise control in the truck, I do not use it that often.  I’ve found I get complacent and distracted when I use it.  It’s called highway hypnosis.  Being in control of a 6,000-pound object moving at 75 mph is certainly not the time to be distracted.

It’s sometimes easy to go through life on cruise control.  We get used to things happening in a certain way, become complacent, and then distracted from life.  One of the most common occurrences of being on cruise control/distracted is people texting then walking out in front of a car.  They are so in the texting zone on cruise control that they do not pay attention to everything happening around them.  The next thing ya know pesky physics comes into play and they’re dead on the road.  Car beats pedestrian 100% of the time.

The line between being comfortable and complacent is very fine.  If you find yourself wondering off into lala land more than being engaged in what’s happening in your life, that’s a sure fire sign to Wake Up.
