Apology Clock

The Opie and Anthony show have a new bit going called the Apology Clock.  The premise of the bit is to see how long things can go before someone apologizes for something they said or did.  Their first attempt lasted less than 24 hours.  Some sports reporter made a comment about a basketball player being a slacker.  His mom, yes a professional basketball player’s mom, got upset and sent a note on social media that her son is not a slacker and she was offended.  Yep, you guessed it.  The newspaper issued an official statement and apology for upsetting, “Mom.”  I guess “Mom” has never heard audio of how ball players trash talk each other on the court.  Maybe it’s just me, but it appears a big part of society has turned into a bunch of overly sensitive ninnies.

Yes, I get it.  Words have power, but I also know that words only have the power we give them.  Personally, I can count on a couple of fingers how many times someone has offended me.  I just choose not to give their words the power they are attempting to put behind them.  My view is that no one can offend or hurt my feelings unless I allow it to happen.  I 100% own my actions and responses.  Damn, you don’t hear that much these days.

This just in, at 6:18 am this morning, Opie and Anthony had to reset the Apology Clock again.  This is getting comical.
