Living Like Tito

The Ron and Fez show on satellite radio has a Thursday bit going this month called, “Living Like Tito.”  The Tito in reference is Tito Beveridge, the founder and owner of Texas based, Tito’s Vodka. Fifteen years ago, he was pretty much broke and not working. At the time, there were microbreweries and small wine growers but no micro-distillers.  He decided to take a chance and develop his own vodka. Today, Tito’s is one of the most successful vodkas in the world.  The Living Like Tito segment as about the people in the world that take that chance like Tito did.

I listened to three stories yesterday about people that either were put into a position or had just finally had enough of Corporate America that they went out on their own.  Some did better financially than others, but they all had one common response, “It was the best thing I’ve ever done.”

I’m a contractor, and when I stepped out in 2005, it was scary.  Luckily, I had some savings to live on, but there was still amount of concern not knowing where or when there would be another check.  Still, it was the best thing I’ve done.

Are you Living Like Tito?  Yes, I realize certain responsibilities come with living life, but if you are not living the best life you can, are you really living?  Go on, step out and take that chance.  Live Like Tito.
