A week ago, I sent a sample of my writing to one of my
favorite web sites just to see if they might be interested in publishing some
of my things. I received a response this
morning from one of the editors.
“I'm inclined to
decline this particular article, as I'm not sure the question/reminder style of
writing will work for our site. But I'm interested to learn more about your
perspective... Do you have any other articles from your site you could
recommend?”
I just liked the idea that I received a response from a
human rather than an email auto-response. For some people, it would be a downer
to see the word decline, but I see it a little differently. I keyed in the on
the second sentence. To tell me the one
I sent may not work but being interested to learn more about my perspective,
was quite the compliment in my eyes. He
asked me to submit a cross section of various things I’ve written to see if
something else would be a good fit for their web site. I went through the 1100 entries on my blog
site, picked a few, and sent them off this morning. Whether it goes anywhere or
not, I was able to peak someone’s curiosity, which is a win for me.
So what’s your perspective?
