Whether it is the cell phone, keys, or wallet, we have all misplaced something. In most instances, it’s simply a matter of retracing your steps to find them. I attempt to minimize misplacing things by putting all the contents of my pockets in a metal dish on the counter, but I still misplace something occasionally. I think we sometimes also misplace our peace and calm.
We get caught up in the challenge(s) of the day and get angry, spun up, or stressed. With every opportunity for some type of drama, there also comes the opportunity to choose our reaction. It can be easier to give in to anger, as it takes no effort to get pissed off. The challenge comes with assessing the situation to determine how you choose to react. When I get frustrated, I can physically feel the energy getting sucked out of me, and that is my queue to do something about it. That is when I start working on a shift, and backtrack to see where I misplaced my peace and calm. Finding those two items always makes for a better day.
