I find it comical when people send text messages and expect an immediate response. The message trail typically is something like this: I sent you a text a few minutes ago but have not seen a response…did you get it…are you okay…are you mad at me…fine, I guess you don’t want to talk to me. Sound familiar? In most cases, the sender put zero thought in to, maybe I’m working, on a conference call, driving, in a meeting, in the shower, or in my case most times, on the Harley. Now, when I want to have fun with the text messaging process, I will intentionally wait a while to respond or call them back and in most cases, it goes to voicemail.
If I need to talk to someone right now, I call them. If it is something that can wait or maybe some comedy, I’ll shoot them a message with no expectation of a response. See! It is really that easy. I’m not sure when this whole self-importance nonsense started, but we need to get back to the “old school” method of communicating and see each other and actually talk. Remember, the communication process is 7% words, 38% tone, and 55% body language.
