The Presentation

When someone talks about giving a presentation, it is typically in the context of a handing out some materials, projecting the presentation on a screen, and discussing a certain topic in a business setting.  Have you thought about your actual presentation?  I’m talking about how you present yourself to the world.

There is so much that goes into the presentation ranging from energy projection, courtesy, language including inflection and volume, appearance/dress, hygiene, timing, and or course body language. Sometimes, I’m quiet and keep to myself, as that is the default behavior of an introvert.  Other times I say hi and smile at every person that walks by.  If I am miffed about something, I present a defensive posture and project the “stay away from me energy.”  When I ride the Harley, it’s jeans, some type of t-shirt with a skull or logo, and boots or Chuck’s. I also own suits and slacks and can dress for the fancy occasions.

Over the years, I’ve learned to adjust my presentation relative to situation.  If you’re uncertain about your presentation, watch the people you encounter.  Their energy and interaction will tell you if you have an A+ or F- presentation.
