Open Up Your Eyes
“Your vision will become clear only when you look into your heart. Those who look outside, dream. Those who looks inside, awaken. ” - Carl Jung
It’s funny to me at the amount of silence there is even when I’m going 80 down 290 on the Harley at 6:15 in the morning. There were several periods of silence this morning as I was coming home from Taylor. My spirit yelled at me yesterday morning so I took off and ran up there to a cook-off.
I was trying to sort through some things in my head and see what the inspiration for the TOD was gonna be. Nothing was coming to me, and I kept trying harder and harder to see it to the point of frustration. I tend to try too hard sometimes…at the job, in relationships, and just in life. That is an improvement opportunity that I’m working on.
So I stop at the SBs in Brenham thinking that may help and still nothing but the chatter so I get back on the road. As I get on 290, a song starts running through my head so loud that it’s almost like I have the radio turned up to 11, but it’s not even on. The song is a new one by Daughtry called Open Up Your Eyes. The chorus, Open Up Your Eyes, keeps rolling over and over through my head, and there it was. The TOD title for today.
There are times things are so clear to me and then others that are a total blur even when it is right in front me. I look at it similar to the adage of people having selective hearing but this one is selective vision. My vision gets distorted, I interpret incorrectly or I get my signals crossed. Even though I have all the facts, I’m still not seeing things for the way they are. Rather, I’m seeing them in the way I would like them to be. I just get confused and clarity escapes me. So I asked Nora last night “do I try too hard?” She said “yes Rod you do sometimes try too hard…you have learned so much and have so much to give, and knowledge of how things work now that you just want to share and sometimes just really try too hard…and it doesn’t have to be that hard ya know…some just are not ready for all the Rod Knowledge…”
So as I sit hear typing this TOD with my reading glasses on, I’m reminded that even though I have learned so much, I still have so much to learn. And so the journey continues, one TOD at a time.

A New Gig
Alyshia, Nora’s niece, has landed a recurring role in Days of Our Lives beginning tomorrow. Congrats kiddo.
She is also working on getting funding for a short film she plans to make called “The Way We Weren’t”. If you would like to support one of our own, please shoot over to her fund raising site, http://www.fundable.com/groupactions/groupaction.2009-08-11.2044531536
Here are the particulars on her film.
I have written a beautiful, visually stimulating short film exploring the idea of perception versus reality in the form of a young woman identifying love and loss. This film will be shot in black and white, as well as color giving visual stimulation of the what is really happening versus what the young woman believes in her mind is happening. This short film will be the directorial debut for Alyshia Ochse, starring James Scott (from Days of Our Lives) and Alyshia. Fantastically talented people have joined the team to make this short film possible and now I am requesting your generosity to make it happen. This film will be submitted to several festivals, especially Sundance with the intention of obtaining distribution. Donations under $10,000 are a tax deduction. If anyone has any questions or would love to read this script please contact me at smish09@yahoo.com. Thank you again for your support and contribution to making a beautiful film that will challenge the mind and heart. Best Wishes, Alyshia Ochse
