“Thank you for everything you do. I imagine you hear more complaints than compliments.”
I wrote those exact words in an email exchange yesterday. Right after hitting send, the light came on in a big way. I get that things are out of sorts in the world right now, but how did complaints become the norm over compliments? Think about the last few conversations you had or heard and see whether compliments or complaints were the norm. I believe compliments should be the norm and complaints the exception, and one of the most powerful compliments is, thank you. Complimenting someone puts positive energy out there, and give you and the other party a good feeling as opposed to complaining and being in a cranky state of “suck.” Compliments or complaints are totally your choice. Make a little difference in the world today by complimenting someone.
