I Direct Your Attention To The Center Ring
“Your heart needs to speak louder than your fears for things to change in your life.” - Rodney Williams
Remember that verse from the song: “send in the clowns…oh they’re already here…?” Does your life sometimes resemble a three ring circus? You know what I mean. There are so many clowns, juggling acts, and things being shot out of cannons that you lose sight of the center ring. When your attention is scattered all over, that’s exactly how you end up feeling – scattered. “I can’t get my hands around it…It’s always something…I’m so busy I can’t keep my head above water…” No matter which cliché’ you use, the result is the same. You are scattered. When you are scattered, a redirect is needed. A redirect is some action that changes or gives you a new direction.
The clowns attempt to take over all of our lives from time to time. I say fight back and kick the clowns to the curb. Employ redirects and keep your attention directed at the center ring. I have many redirects I use, but here are my top three.
Redirect #1
When I’m at the gym riding the bike or walking at the park, I redirect by listening to a portion of the audio books of The Secret by Rhonda Byrne. I sometimes listen to a certain chapter multiple times, or just let the audio book run. I may not actively listen to every single word, but I know my brain is taking in the information. Why do I do it? Repetition will engrain and imprint the positive words and concepts in my head. It gets back to the saying: “I attract to my life what I give my attention to.”
Redirect #2
I reread the following statements I have located at my desk and around my house.
You can only be happy with others in your life when you are happy with yourself.
What you focus on becomes your reality.
The universe returns to you what you project out.
I attract to my life what I give my attention to.
Power your thoughts to direct your destiny.
Be happy now.

THE OPTIMIST’S CREED
By
Christian D. Larson
Promise yourself
To be so strong that nothing can disturb your peace of mind.
To talk health, happiness and prosperity to every person you meet.
To make all your friends feel that there is something in them.
To look at the sunny side of everything and make your optimism come true.
To think only of the best, to work only for the best, and to expect only the best.
To be just as enthusiastic about the success of others as you are about your own.
To forget the mistakes of the past and press on to greater achievements of the future.
To wear a cheerful expression at all times and give everyone creature you meet a smile.
To give so much time to improving of yourself that you have no time to criticize others.
To be too large for worry, too noble for anger, too strong for fear; and too happy to permit the presence of trouble.
To think well of yourself and to proclaim this fact to the world, not in loud words but in great deeds.
To live in the faith that the whole world is on your side so long as you are true to the best that is in you.
Action Item – I’d like to hear from the group on what types of redirects others may use.
