I read an interesting article on what I will term as, importance. Do you remember how spun up you got the last time
someone cut you off in traffic? Can you
recall the feeling you had the last time you had a significant argument, or how
upset were you when you came out to find a scratch on your car? Each example does one thing to you. It takes some of your energy. Now, how much it takes is internally
negotiable. Meaning, we have the choice
to decide the amount of energy given to any event in our life. Now, think about each one of the examples
above with one little twist. How
important will it be in one year? Will
you even recall the day traffic spun you up, will that argument matter, and that
scratch is probably buffed out?
We expend a lot of energy on the wrong things.
That is just what we do. We are
impatient by nature and want instant gratification. To be patient, takes effort and
practice. I can go days and weeks
sometimes then just have a period where I spin out of control all due to
impatience or an undesired outcome. In
most cases when I look back at the spin out, it really was not that big a deal
after all, and I am certain I will not
remember it next year. Ask that one
simple question the next time you feel the big spin coming. Will it matter?
